The nicko cruises Full Board
A fine selection of meals is an essential part of life on board of all nicko river cruises. The day starts with a substantial buffet-style breakfast whilst lunch and dinner consist of a wide selection of courses. Dinner is served at your table, allowing us to really pamper you. On one or two occasions per week, we vary the seated dinner with large theme buffets. We place great calue on a healthy mix of international dishes an specialities local to the area we are passing through.

It is obvious how much love and dedication to detail went into the design of our restaurants. It reflects our commitment to making every single aspect of the dining experience special. From the first cup of coffee in the morning to the last glass of wine in the evening, our crew caters to your every whim. Every nicko cruises trip features a festive gala dinner to complete the culinary experience. Our guests generally wear sporty-casual clothing. However, the dress code is smart for the gala dinner, and you are welcome to dress a little more festively.
Morning. A good start.
To get your day off to an excellent start, our kitchen prepares a comprehensive breakfast buffet from fresh ingredients. Help yourself to juices, coffee and tea. For early risers, many ships offer an early-bird breakfast with small treats.
Midday. As you like it.
At lunchtime, we are happy to serve you delicious dishes with the best views in the panorama restaurant on our ships. If you would prefer a light lunch, our buffet-style "Light Lunch" is just right for you, served in the saloon. Decide for yourself - every day anew. Depending on the day's programme, we serve you fine cakes from our ship's patisserie in the afternoon. You enjoy the sweet sins in the Panorama Salon.
Evening. Smart dining.
Our evening dining concept is a genuine treat. You can look forward to cleverly composed menus consisting of international and regional specialities and excellent wines at dinner. We always offer a selection of delicious wines from the region we are visiting, and from some of the best wine making regions in the world. Our kitchen is also happy to take your dietary requirements into account. Depending on the evening programme, we serve you a tasty midnight snack. The culinary highlight of your nicko cruises river cruise awaits you with the festive gala dinner. Beforehand, the captain and his crew members invite you to a reception to thank you and toast your river cruise together.
Enjoyment at your own pace.
All ship restaurants offer the best views – as they should, because you will spend many enjoyable hours there during your journey. Two particularly innovative ships in our fleet are nickoSPIRIT and nickoVISION. They both have unique on-board concepts. Guests can eat at any of the three restaurants without a surcharge. There is also free seating at every meal, and no fixed times for dining, so when and where you eat is entirely your decision.
Special flair for special moments.
Our chefs’ creations are served to guests in our light, modern and welcoming restaurants. Guests who come here for the excellent cuisine are always tempted to stay on after dining because the lightflooded panorama salons with their comfortable settees and armchairs are the perfect place to relax.

Our extensive and healthy breakfast provided in our range of different restaurants will give you a varied start to the day as well as plenty of energy.
Our kitchen crew use all their passion and skill to cook for you every day. Whether you get a light lunch put together for you at the Club Bistro buffet (currently no self-service, our friendly staff will serve you), or have the extensive lunch menu in one of our Waterfront Restaurants – you can always choose from a wide range of international and regional dishes from the region you are travelling in. Our kitchen crew also regularly add authentic Portuguese touches. How about some traditionally prepared cod, for example? A saying goes that Portuguese cuisine has more recipes for bacalhau than there are days in the year. Or do you fancy sampling a Francesinha, a tasty sandwich from Porto. It’s not just children who love it!
Traditionally, Portuguese seafarers have always indulged in culinary reminders of their home country on their travels. You will notice it too when we celebrate afternoon tea and coffee time on board, which includes a wide range of desserts. Of course, there are also sweet treats from Portugal to choose from – for example, have you heard of pastel de nata or torta de Azeitão?

Your culinary highlight of the day awaits, before or after our evening show in Hollywood’s – because what would the most beautiful cruise be without its evening culinary delights? Every evening, our experienced and creative kitchen crew always prepare a varied and top-quality menu – with themed buffets in the Club Bistro. Our five restaurants offer a wide selection to suit every taste, not just in terms of the range of food on offer, but also the atmosphere and decor. You can look forward, for example, to international specialities, Mediterranean dishes, Portuguese delicacies and also Asian-inspired fusion cuisine. Selected ingredients and healthy preparation will give you indulgence with (almost) no pangs of guilt.
