The journey to Lajosmizse takes you south of Budapest towards the Hungarian lowlands, the Puszta. On arrival at Tanya-Cszárda, you will be greeted with schnapps and savory cookies, typical of the region. You will visit the stud farm and can then take a short carriage ride across the vast plains of the Puszta. Afterwards, the csikos (Hungarian horse herders) invite you to a special kind of riding demonstration. You will learn interesting facts about the Hungarian horse traditions and get to know the habits of the former Csikos, as the horse used to be a man's best friend in the Puszta. After the demonstration, you will have the opportunity to take a short walk through the stables of the Cszárda. Here you will also be served a small snack with Hungarian specialties and wine. In the boutique you have the opportunity to buy Hungarian souvenirs, salami, paprika products, wine and schnapps.

Excursion Pécs

After a drive through the Hungarian lowlands you will reach Pecs (Fünfkirchen), one of the most beautiful cities in Hungary. Located in southern Transdanubia, on the slopes of the Mecsek Mountains, Pecs welcomes its visitors with a mild climate, southern flair and numerous monuments and works of art. In 2010, Pecs was named the European Capital of Culture. In the center you will find one of the most beautiful squares in Hungary with Szechenyi Square and the Plague Column. During a tour you will see, among other things, the city's basilica, but also the Szsami Mosque, which was later converted into a church. The original elements of the mosque were masterfully incorporated into the reconstruction. You will further reach the Zsolnay Fountain with its enchanting ceramic decorations, which even defy the weather and decorate the fountain all year round. Strolling through the pedestrian zone, you will experience the special atmosphere of the city.

In 1748, Novi Sad was declared a royal free city by Maria Theresa and given the name "Neoplanta". Since the official language in Hungary was Latin, "Neusatz" was translated by the Serbs as Novi Sad. From the pier you have a wonderful view of the Peterwardein Fortress, which towers on the opposite side of the Danube. After a short visit, head to Ovid Square. Ovid, who was once exiled from Rome and spent the last years of his life in Constanta, has a monument built in the former Greek market square. In this square there is also the Historical Museum and the largest preserved Roman floor mosaic. We continue, passing the mosque, to the Romanian Orthodox Church. After a detailed explanation of the Romanian Orthodox religion and the history of the excavations next door, walk on to the casino, located right on the seafront. Here you will have some free time before continuing your walk along the seafront to the marina, where your bus will be waiting for you. Afterwards you will drive to the Black Sea coast to the old seaside resort Mamaia. There you will have time for a walk or a swim before returning to the ship.

Romanian Danube Delta with large excursion boats

After its journey through 10 countries, the Danube divides into three estuaries - Chilia, Sulina and Sfantu Gheorge, before flowing into the Black Sea. Between these three arms, the Danube forms a beautiful delta, which covers an area of several thousand square kilometers and attracts many visitors with its unique flora and fauna. The Danube Delta is the second largest delta in Europe and holds the title of UNESCO World Natural Heritage. The protected area is a state-administered biosphere reserve and forms both the largest wetland in Europe and the world's largest area covered by reeds. In large excursion boats you will travel through the channels of the delta and experience the beauty of this natural paradise, which, however, will not take us to the mouth of the Danube to the Black Sea. The city with its residential and artisan quarters as well as numerous churches, monasteries and terraces was built on the steep slopes of the Zarevets, Trapesitza and Momina Krepost hills. After a stroll through the craftsmen's alley you will make a photo stop at the hill Zarewetz, on which the castle and thus the seat of the Bulgarian tsar was built. Afterwards you will continue to Arbanassi, a small village nestled in the beautiful hilly landscape around Veliko Tarnovo. During a walk through the picturesque alleys you will enjoy the special charm of this place. The Bulgarian Orthodox Church of the Assumption of Christ is probably Arbanassi's greatest treasure. Wall paintings, wood carvings and numerous icons are worth a visit. Magnificent town houses from the 17th-19th centuries invite you to linger.

The city has a varied history and almost all monuments and museums reflect the time of the war against the Ottomans. The first destination of the excursion is probably the most famous monument high above the city: the panoramic monument "Pleven Epopoeia", in which the history of Pleven is impressively immortalized in pictures. It was erected in 1977 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Bulgaria from Turkish rule. The glorious history of the city is also remembered by numerous museums, monuments and interesting buildings, such as the mausoleum of the Russian and Romanian soldiers who died in 1877.
